Mixboard: A New Way to Visualize Your Ideas from Google Labs

Google Labs has unveiled Mixboard, an experimental AI-powered concepting board designed to help you explore, expand, and refine your ideas visually. Whether you’re brainstorming home décor, planning an event theme, designing a product, or imagining your next DIY project, Mixboard makes the process more interactive and creative with the help of generative AI.

What is Mixboard?

Mixboard is an open canvas that blends text and images, powered by AI. It allows you to bring your ideas to life through mood boards, concept visuals, and contextual text.

You can start fresh with a simple text prompt, or choose from pre-populated boards. From there, you can upload your own images, or let AI generate new ones for you.

Key Features of Mixboard

Start projects with ease

  • Use text prompts or ready-made boards as a foundation.

🖼️ AI-powered visuals

  • Upload personal images or create brand-new ones with generative AI.

🎨 Natural language editing

  • Modify visuals by simply describing changes—make small tweaks, merge ideas, or experiment using Google’s new Nano Banana image editing model.

🔄 Quick variations

  • Options like “regenerate” and “more like this” let you create multiple versions of the same idea in one click.

✍️ Contextual text generation

  • Generate descriptive text based on the images on your board to better frame your ideas.

Availability

Mixboard is currently available as a public beta in the U.S. Being an early experiment, Google Labs is seeking feedback to make the tool more useful for creators, designers, and everyday users who want to visualize possibilities with AI.
